Course Description

This two-hour presentation will provide an overview of the laws and regulations applicable to pre-licensees as they work toward licensure in marriage and family therapy. Topics to be discussed include the marriage and family therapy licensing process, supervised experience requirements for applicants, supervisor qualifications and the new supervision requirements, licensing examinations, and common employment issues pre-licensees encounter with their supervisors.

Educational Goals

Participants will gain a greater understanding of the licensure process, the rules and requirements, and the challenges facing pre-licensees working toward licensure.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the requirements for counting hours toward licensure
  2. State the number of hours and the number of weeks of supervised experience pre-
    licensees are required to meet
  3. Identify how the “new” 90-day rule pertaining to post-degree hours differs from the “old” 90-day rule
  4. Identify appropriate work settings and common labor issues that arise in the employment of pre-licensees

Continuing Education credits:
General Registration for RECAMFT members and the public is free, and does not include CEs, though the option to earn CEs can be added by payment of a processing fee. If you pay the CE fee, then you are eligible for 1.5 CEs by attending either the "live" event on Zoom in full, OR viewing the recorded program, but not both.  After you watch the recording, you will need to contact therapy@recamft.org for instructions to complete the speaker evaluation, a post-test, and get the link to download your CE certificate.
If you do not need CEs, this recording can be viewed for free with registration.
