Course Description

Uncover the power and flexibility of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in this comprehensive two-hour training tailored for master’s level and beyond mental health clinicians. This program transcends the common application of DBT within Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) settings and showcases the universality of DBT skills. Embrace the potential of DBT as a robust adjunct across diverse therapy treatment plans, for all ages and varied therapeutic environments. The training will focus on the practical integration of DBT strategies in varied clinical settings, ensuring therapists can effectively cater to the multifaceted challenges and strengths presented by clients.

Educational Goals

  • Elucidate the fundamental tenets of DBT and its relevance beyond BPD diagnosis.
  • Equip participants with the strategies to integrate DBT into therapy for varied age groups and therapeutic settings.
  • Equip participants with a foundational understanding of DBT and its tools.
  • Enhance the capability of clinicians to integrate DBT strategies across various clinical scenarios and populations.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe a foundational understanding of the core principles of DBT
  2. Explain the application of DBT beyond BPD.
  3. Apply DBT skills suitable for children, adolescents, adults, mature adults, couples, and families.
  4. Discuss the adaptability of DBT in school-based settings and its potential benefits.
  5. Discuss the integration of DBT strategies into mainstream therapeutic practices.

Training Schedule and Attendance Requirements

Please note, this is a 2.0-CE training, comprised of two hours of training plus time for RECAMFT announcements in the meeting. You must be logged on at the beginning of the training, be present during the event (including responding to attendance checks by coming on camera, verbally replying, and/or replying in the chat), and stay logged on for the full duration, to end at 12:15 pm, in order to earn the CEs. If your camera is off the entire time, and RECAMFT cannot verify you were physically present at your computer throughout the training, then RECAMFT cannot issue a CE certificate, as we would not be able to show that the BBS requirements for your participation were met.

About Our Speaker - Danah Davis Williams, LMFT

Danah Williams, LMFTDanah Williams, MA, LMFT is a licensed psychotherapist with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Psychology. Mrs. Williams has over 15 years of direct patient care implementing Dialectical Behavior Therapy across varied therapeutic settings. Recognizing the versatility of DBT, Mrs. Williams advocates for its broader application beyond BPD, helping therapists adapt its tenets for clients of all ages. Mrs. Williams is a Past President (2020-2021) of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and Santa Barbara CAMFT. She resides in Santa Barbara, CA with her spouse and vibrant toddler.

At the conclusion of this educational event, after confirming attendance, an email with a link to the test and evaluation form will be sent to all attendees whose physical attendance during the online meeting is verified. Once you complete and submit your evaluation, you will have immediate access and be able to print or save your CE Certificate. This course meets the qualifications for 2.0 hrs of continuing education (CE) credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
